Title: Senior Smart Card and Billing Expert and Project Manager
Reports to: Technology Director
Based at: Kuber Ltd, Brighton, UK.
Job purpose:
To plan and execute Smart Card design and deployment for our key clients, assist in billing and reconciliation project and project manage large projects to successful completion.Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain smart card specifications for telecom operators.
- Consult and advice clients on various standards like ETSI, Global Platforms, 3GPP and JavaCard Standards and their impacts on the card specifications and deployment strategies.
- Create smart card strategies to aid our clients develop and deploy successful applications.
- Provide input into the billing and reconciliation projects and do the necessary business and technical analysis for the project.
- Create and present technical information in pre- and post-sales presentations and various management levels.
- Use PRINCE2 project management methodologies for managing all projects and provide necessary management reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Carry out risk analysis for projects and create contingency plans for smooth operations.
- Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support, and liaison with internal order-processing staff.
- Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information.
- Maintain and report on equipment and software suitability for project operation and reporting purposes.
- Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
- Manage the external marketing agency activities of telemarketing and research.
- Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
Scale and territory indicators:
The candidate is expected to liaise and manage project and operations in Western Europe with the key focus areas being UK, Germany and The Netherlands. Expertise of English, German and Dutch will be a highly desirable skill.Personal profile

Able to get on with others and be a team-player.Personal Situation: Must be mature and domestically secure. Able to spend one or two nights away per month without upsetting domestic situation. Able to commute reliably to office base. Able to work extended hours on occasions when required. May be striving financially but not desperate or in serious debt. Must have clean UK driving licence.
Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate and motivate via written media. Expertise of Smart card standards including (but not limited to) ETSI, 3GPP, Global Platforms and JavaCard standards. At least 5 years experience as leading smart card specification development and application specifications. In depth knowledge of the billing and reconciliation issues in the telecoms sector. Practitioner level certification in PRINCE2 project management methodology.
Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel, Powerpoint and Word, and ideally Access or similar database to basic level, Internet and email.
Literacy and Numeracy: Must have a Masters level degree from a known and/or recognised University in the UK. Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc. Must be a very competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals.
Business and Selling Skills: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. Able to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts customers and large contracts or even a business, particularly achieving genuine sales development. Experience of tenders would also be useful.
Management Ability: Though internal staff management is not initially part of the job, responsibility and opportunity could grow with the development of the business, for example the prospect of recruiting and managing support staff. Some people-management skills, experience and natural ability will be useful.
